If you have EVER been captivated by the magic of theatre...
Epiphany is giving YOU the opportunity to let your inner actor/actress free!
This year, the Epiphany - English and Drama Society is pleased to bring you a series of free drama workshops as part of the Nanyang Literary Festival 2009!
Held on the 17th & 18th of February 2009, at the Nanyang Playhouse Rehearsal Room, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., these series of drama workshops are open to anybody who is interested in developing and honing their skills and theatrical techniques for use in both practical and serious theatre.
Over these two days, you will learn:
17th February 2009 – Session #1
Introduction to Theatre
This is a practical introduction to theatre and it covers the theatrical techniques employed by Konstantin Stanislavski (Method Acting) and Bertolt Brecht (Alienation Effects) in a taster session. Participants will also be dealing with body movement and speech in these two theatrical styles in order to gain the full benefit of these two historical styles of drama. At the end of the session, participants would have gained the ability to negotiate body movement with speech with regards to these two styles of theatre.
18th February 2009 – Session #2
Introduction to Physical Theatre
This session is crucial to the thespian because it further develops the Stanislavski and Brechtian method of acting while employing Rudolf Laban's and Imgrad Barteneiff's Human Body Movement techniques to negotiate acting styles. Participants will be given a chance to experiment with their body movements in order to obtain a flow of movement involved in physicalizing their scripts. The highlight of the session will be an introduction to Theatrical Alchemy. At the end of the session, participants would be successful in negotiating their bodies with their intentions and performing their scripts with flow.
The workshops are prepared with materials and notes so that the participants can further practice what they have learnt in the workshops with their respective theatre troupes or even in their practical theatre courses in school or otherwise.
However, the notes provided are to be in no way reproduced, disseminated, or given to a large group or company of people to which they do not rightfully belong without the prior permission of their authors.
For more details on how to sign up for this free and enlightening workshop, refer to the attached poster!
Remember! Places are being grabbed up as you read this, so sign up quickly to avoid disappointment!
